In 2007, Barcelona was Europe's fourth most visited city, with around 5 million tourists. In total there were 7.1 million visitors and it means the number of tourists doubled compared to just five years earlier. Even weekend tourism has increased considerably.
During recent years the price of flights to Barcelona dropped seriously and the city benefited from this drop. Several international journals focused their attention on Barcelona. One of them is the National Geographic which included Barcelona on its list of the world's top 10 destinations. The city's most popular tourist attraction is the unfinished Sagrada Família.
