Barcelona Aquarium is one of the most popular activities in Barcelona. It is also one of the most important centres of studying the Mediterranean animals. Its exposition is divided into three ecological systems: rock and sand coast, algae forests, underwater caves and grottos, coral reefs and others. You can also find 7 aquariums devoted to tropical eco systems where you can watch the Great Barrier Reef, the Red Sea and the Caribbean animals in their native environment.
One of the most interesting parts of exposition is a number of mini aquariums devoted to definite marine creatures which can be hardly seen in great amounts of water such as hippocampus, microscopic fish and others.
You can also see huge sharks swimming over your head and glass ceiling of 80-meter tunnel. You can even swim with them if you have diver certificate and € 300 in cash. Work hours: 9:30 – 9:00, in June and August Barcelona Aquarium works till 11 p.m.
