The gigantic triangular building Edifici Forum is one of Barcelona's modern architectural landmarks and may be considered the heart of the new district of Diagonal Mar. The building was designed by Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron for the event Forum of Cultures 2004. Edifici Forum is built within the triangular area between the streets Diagonal Avenue, Rambla de Prim and Ronda Litoral. There is a model of Barcelona in the scale of 1: 1000 which took five months to put together.
Inside of the spaceship-like, 25-meter high building there is an auditorium that holds 3200 people and a permanent exhibition depicting Barcelona's urban planning, including a model of the city at a scale of 1:1000 which took five months to put together. You may visit the exhibition free of charge.
Around the Edifici Forum there are lot's of things to discover. About 300 meters east there is Zona de Banys, where you can rent a kayak or bicycle, learn diving or participate in various entertaining activities. Nearby there is a Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona, a generous area where large outdoor events ( such as the Festes de la Merce ) organized every year.
