In Barcelona there is a wide range of transport for you to use while on your holiday, including buses, the metro system, taxi, tram and even rickshaws.
The Barcelona metro system has five lines, all coloured-coded and numbered. You can buy individual tickets for about 1.35 euros however the best thing to do it to buy a T-10. This gives you 10 metro, tram or bus rides and works out cheaper and more convenient. The metro system is excellent and stays open until 2am on Friday nights and stays open all night on Saturday nights!
The Barcelona taxis are black and yellow and you hail them from the street. Look out for the green light to see if a taxi is available. It's usually pretty easy to find a cab(except pehaps at 3am on Las Ramblas!) and they are good value for money.
There are plenty of buses in Barcelona for you to get around but you are probably better off using the metro or taxi if you are here for a short while. The bus maps are complicated and the buses are far less frequent than the metro.
