Outdoor activities in Barcelona should include Zoo (locally called "Zoo de Barcelona") - it has over one million visitors each year and is a number 1 attraction for the families with children. Zoo was built in 1892, part of Parc de la Ciutadella was dedicated to this purpose. Here are several thousands of animals - over 400 different types of them. The thing that made this Zoo rally famous is that here lived the only albino gorilla named Snowflake until his death in 2003.
In the present moment there are several of his descendants still remain in the park, however none of them is albino. Among the major attractions of the park there is a dolphin show in Aquarama held every hour during weekends. Furthermore, the aquarium has also orcas and penguins. Part of the park consists of a built-in farmhouse where children can pet goats and lambs. Lizards, crocodiles, snakes – all of them can be seen in Barcelona zoo.
A restaurant, a picnic area and an electric train that you can ride around the park – everything here is for your pleasure. Zoo opens at 10:00 am each day and open time varies according to the season; during the summer it is open till 8:00 pm
