Torre Agbar is one of Barcelona's most visible landmarks where the building has 33 floors. The tower was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel and opened in June 2005. According to the architect's confession, he was inspired by the shape of Montserrat mountain.
Agbar is located inside the neighborhood of Poblenou and is named after its owner, the company Agbar Group, which manages the city's waterworks. The 144 meter high tower includes about 30 000 square meters of office space.
The building got its wayward shimmer through various architectural tricks. One of them is the over 4 000 windows that line the entire scraper. Additionally there 4500 LED lights on the tower, all of them together create brilliant images across the entire facade. A temperature sensor inside the tower controls the opening and closing of blinds which makes the tower saving energy for air conditioning.
Opening hours and prices
Sometimes Agbar hosts temporary exhibitions in the foyer. Unfortunately, it is not permitted for the public to get further into the building. Agbar's address is: Avenida Diagonal 225.
